Choosing Your First Guitar: A Professional's Guide

Your first instrument is your most important teacher. If the strings are too high or the neck is warped, you will quit before you even start. Here is how to pick a guitar that will grow with you.

1. Acoustic vs. Electric

Most beginners start with an Acoustic guitar because it's portable and doesn't require an amp. However, Electric guitars have thinner strings and are actually easier on the fingers. For our Online Guitar class, we recommend starting with what inspires you to play the most.

2. The 'Action' Check

The 'Action' is the distance between the string and the fretboard. If it's too high, it will be painful to play. If it's too low, the strings will buzz. A good affordable music classes experience starts with a well-setup instrument.

3. Body Type Matters

Dreadnoughts are great for sound but can be too large for younger students or smaller adults. Parlor or '000' sized guitars offer a more comfortable experience for Online music class for kids and adults alike.
