Stage fright doesn't go away; you just learn to dance with it. Even the most seasoned maestros feel the 'butterfly' sensation before a concert. The difference is how they interpret that feeling.
Anxiety vs. Excitement
Physiologically, anxiety and excitement are nearly identical. Both involve a racing heart and increased adrenaline. Tell yourself "I am excited" instead of "I am nervous." This simple cognitive reframe can change your entire performance.
The 5-Breath Rule
Before you step on stage (or start your online showcase), take 5 deep 'diaphragmatic' breaths. This signals your nervous system that you are safe, lowering your heart rate and stabilizing your voice.
Focus on the Music, Not the Audience
Stage fright comes from self-consciousness. If you focus entirely on the emotion of the Raag or the rhythm of the song, there is no room left in your brain for 'What do they think of me?'
