Performance anxiety is not a sign that you are unprepared; it's a sign that you care. Even the most seasoned maestros feel the 'adrenaline rush' before a concert.
1. Reframe Anxiety as Excitement
Anxiety and excitement are physiologically almost identical. Tell yourself "I am excited" instead of "I am nervous." This simple cognitive reframe can change your entire performance energy.
2. The 'Ritual' of Preparation
Develop a 5-minute pre-performance ritual. Whether it's deep breathing, a specific warm-up, or just a few moments of silence. This signals your brain that it's time to enter the 'Flow State.'
3. Focus on the 'Why'
When you focus on yourself, you get nervous. When you focus on the music and the audience's experience, the nerves fade. You are just a vessel for the sound. This is a core philosophy we teach in our Music class for adults.
