The Science of Riyaaz: How to 10x Your Vocal Progress

In Indian classical music, 'Riyaaz' is the foundation of everything. But many students spend hours 'practicing' without seeing real growth. The secret lies in the Science of Neuroplasticity.

1. The Power of Micro-Repetitions

When you practice a difficult 'Tan' or a complex phrase, your brain is building myelin—a fatty substance that insulates your neural pathways. The more focused the repetition, the thicker the myelin. At Sukoon Music Academy, our Online singing classes focus on 'Slow Riyaaz' to ensure these pathways are built perfectly without any 'errors' in the foundation.

2. Breath: The Engine of Sound

Without proper breath control, Riyaaz is just vocal strain. We teach the 'Lower-Lung' technique, common in both Online Hindustani music class and Western opera. This provides the 'Air Support' needed for those long, soulful sustained notes that define a master.

3. The 20-Minute Focus Rule

The human brain can only maintain peak focus for about 20 minutes. Break your 60-minute Riyaaz into three 20-minute 'Sprints.' This ensures you are always practicing with 'Intention' rather than just 'Repetition.'
