Songwriting for Vocalists: How to Write Lyrics that Resonate

A great vocal performance is elevated by great lyrics. If you don't believe what you are singing, your audience won't either.

1. Start with the 'Hook'

The 'Hook' is the central idea of your song. It should be catchy, simple, and emotionally resonant. Think of it as the 'destination' your verses are leading to.

2. Show, Don't Tell

Instead of saying "I am sad," describe the 'cold coffee on the table' or the 'silence in the hallway.' Imagery creates a movie in the listener's mind, making your Online singing classes showcase much more impactful.

3. The Rhythm of Speech

Good lyrics follow the natural rhythm of the language. If you have to 'force' a word to fit a melody, it will sound awkward. We teach you how to 'scan' your lyrics to ensure they flow effortlessly with the music.
